Over many years, our family has tried most store brand salsa and although they were ok, none were excellent.
One day after canning my own fresh tomatoes, I decided to try making my own.
We have visited many different Mexican restaurants and it was surprising we didn’t find the typical chunky style store salsa but a smoother salsa with a deeper flavor profile. I knew I needed to duplicate it!
It was because of this blending that this salsa has a more complex flavor.
I start this salsa as I do my fresh canned tomatoes, with my Cuisinart food mill. It is a wonderful tool that extracts the tomato skins and seeds. This is my exact food mill and you can get it here: https://amzn.to/3EIQV8x
It is an incredibly simple process and creates a wonderful, flavor packed end product.
You will need a few canning supplies also available here: https://amzn.to/44Zrevh
If you have these basic tools, you can fill your pantry with amazing salsa for an entire season!
Give it a try and I’m sure you will love it! Let me know your thoughts, questions or any comments.
