Best of the Summer-Fresh Peach Pie

Best of the Summer – Fresh peach pie uses the bounty of available fruits that we enjoy each season. The peaches that are used in this recipe are freestone Pennsylvania peaches which have a lovely yellow flesh and a juicy sweet texture.

A freestone peach, if you aren’t familiar with them, is a peach where the flesh separates from the pit easily for slicing. Cling peaches, like those purchased in the store are as the name suggests one that clings tighter to the pit.

Bounty of Summer….

The Pennsylvania peach is available at the height of summer in our area of the northeast. August is prime time for these delicious peaches. They pair delightfully well with a touch Saigon cinnamon in pies, cobbler or crumbles. Saigon cinnamon is a different variety of cinnamon whereas it is more flavorful and has added health benefits. It has shown to lower blood sugar and have anti-inflammatory, anti microbial and antibacterial properties.
